CFSS is Minnesota’s new and improved program for in-home support, replacing the traditional PCA and Consumer Support Grant (CSG) programs. At Community Care Solutions, we are fully prepared to help you navigate this transition and maximize the new benefits that CFSS offers. This program gives you greater flexibility and control over your care, empowering you to live more independently in your home and community.
What You Can Expect from CFSS
- Comprehensive Daily Support: Like PCA, CFSS covers essential tasks like bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and meal preparation.
- New Services and Goods: The CFSS program introduces new benefits that weren’t available before. You can now use your service budget to purchase approved goods and services that increase your independence, such as assistive technology or laundry services.
- Expanded Worker Options: This is a significant change. CFSS allows a person’s spouse or a parent of a minor to be a paid caregiver, providing new opportunities for family members to be compensated for their invaluable care.
- More Self-Direction: CFSS provides two service models—the Agency Provider Model and the Budget Model—giving you more control over your care and who provides it.
- Consultation Services: A new component of the program, consultation services provide professional guidance to help you understand your options and create a personalized service plan.
Choose the CFSS Model That’s Right for You
Agency Provider Model:
- Description: In this model, you select an agency like Community Care Solutions to be the employer of your support worker. The agency handles the recruiting, hiring, training, payroll, and supervision, so you have less administrative responsibility. We work closely with you to find the right caregiver and ensure your needs are met.
- Who it’s for: “This model is ideal for those who prefer to have an agency manage the details and simply focus on receiving their care.”
Budget Model:
- Description: In this model, you (or your responsible party) become the employer of your support workers. You have a flexible budget and can choose who to hire, including family members, and manage their schedules. You will work with a Financial Management Services (FMS) provider who assists with payroll, taxes, and other employer-related tasks.
- Who it’s for: This model is for those who want the highest level of control and flexibility over their care, including the ability to hire a spouse or parent.
